Hypnotherapy and NLP
We recommend hypnotherapy or NLP before your first pool session for those that have a water phobia/fear or have experienced a water related traumatic event.
Our collaboration with Mandy Mowatt at Nu-Yu Health and Mind has led to great results in the pool with clients being able to overcome or manage their fears/anxiety and submerging and floating in their first lesson.
Water Confidence
Explore and learn:
-
Breathing techniques which will calm the brain and body before and during the session.
-
How to breathe out while the face is in the water or the whole body is submerged- this calms the brain and helps you to focus and learn.
-
Floating-explore how the water supports your body.
-
Standing Up- how to regain your feet from floating on your back and front.
-
Moving- how to move calmly and safely on your front and back.
Learn to Swim
Moving on from the Water Confidence skills above you then choose which stroke you would like to learn.
-
Breaststroke, Backstroke or Front Crawl
-
Easy step by step instructions moving at your pace of learning.
-
Feedback- verbal, hands on correction/support, demonstrations
-
Swim coach in the pool every session
-
Access to reference videos for standing rehearsals and pool practice.

How many lessons will I need?
We recommend weekly 30 min sessions for complete beginners if possible.
This helps to develop water confidence quickly and results in good progress early on.
Once confident to go to a pool by themselves, clients can then reduce to hourly sessions recommended every 3-4 weeks with self practice in between lessons.
Clients generally are confident to submerge, float, move and stand up from back/front within 3 - 6 30 min lessons.
Learning to swim a stroke varies, on average 10- 20 hours of lessons with self practice.
Adult Beginner
We specialise in helping adults explore and learn how to gain control of their body and breathing in the water in a safe, supportive environment.
Our swim coach will be with you in the water the whole time to demonstrate, help and guide you in our heated 4.2m x 2.4m private pool.
